Simulation-Based Decision Support System for Energy Efficiency in Buildings Retrofitting

The implementation of building retrofitting processes targeting higher energy efficiency is greatly influenced by the investor’s expectations regarding return on investment. baseline this work assumption that it possible to improve predictability post-retrofit scenario, both in and financial terms, using data gathered how a being used its occupants. proposed approach relies simulation estimate impact available energy-efficient solutions future consumption, actual usage data. Data are collected wireless sensor network, installed for minimum period established methodology. several alternative retrofit scenarios then basis decision support process help investor directing resources, based tangible intangible criteria. overall supported software platform developed scope EnPROVE project. includes audit, consumption prediction, support. follows benefits, opportunities, costs, risks (BOCR) analysis analytic hierarchy (AHP). methodology were tested validated real business case, also within project, demonstrating expected benefits focusing lighting thermal comfort.
